SOAK, BRUSH, RINSE

Cleaning your dentures daily will not only help keep your dentures feeling fresh and in good condition, but will also help you to maintain a healthy mouth and help relieve any denture problems. Daily denture cleaning can help remove bacteria or plaque that may be on the surface of your denture, which can cause your gums to become irritated.

To ensure your dentures stay in tip-top condition, you may want to remove them, pop them in a glass of warm (not hot) water and add a Polident denture cleanser tablet for a truly deep clean, ensuring you follow the directions on the pack. You should also brush your dentures with a soft-bristle brush to remove debris and then rinse them, which will help keep your dentures feeling fresh and looking great.
 

RESTING YOUR GUMS

Your dentures may feel and look natural, but remember to rest your gums as leaving them in 24 hours a day could run the risk of irritation and swelling . Your dentist or dental technician may recommend leaving your new dentures in at all times for the first week or so – only removing to clean after meals and at night – to allow your mouth to get used to the feel of having them in.

If your denture isn’t feeling quite right when you are wearing it, your dentist may be able to reduce, ease or fix any problems. They may even recommend a denture adhesive to help keep your dentures comfortably in the correct position, so you can smile confidently.
